Formation of CIS Common Migration Area to be Discussed at Saint Petersburg International Labour Forum

The VIII St. Petersburg International Labour Forum will be held on 20-22 February 2024. The event will bring together representatives of government, business, academic and civil society to jointly design relevant solutions for the spheres of labour, employment and labour migration. The main topic of the forum will be “Labour, employment, human capital: new challenges and new solutions”.

The organizers are the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS, the Government of St. Petersburg and St. Petersburg State University. The IPA CIS headquarters - the Tavricheskiy Palace - will traditionally be the venue for the migration track of the forum.

As part of the forum, on 20th February 2024, the Tavricheskiy Palace will host the international conference “The Concept of the Common Migration Area of the CIS Member Nations: Common Principles and National Interests”.

In accordance with the Concept of further development of the IPA CIS and the Plan of main measures for its implementation, as well as the Perspective Plan of Model Law-Making in the CIS  for 2023-2025, the IPA CIS starts to develop a new version of the Concept of the Common Migration Area of the CIS countries. The current version of the document was adopted by the Assembly in 2012.

Registration for the event is already open on the official website of the forum.

We would like to remind you that the VII St. Petersburg International Labour Forum was held in March 2023, with over 6,500 professionals as delegates and participants.
